20+ Racks in Sydney, Floor Left Untouched

Team Australia

How our Australia team protected a data center floor with custom-cut, interlocking boards while rolling in several-hundred-kilo racks.

Our team in Sydney recently completed a rack installation for a customer: more than 20 racks, each weighing several hundred kilos, rolled into place on a live data center floor. And as always, the floor had to look untouched when we left.

The site's requirement: plywood

Every data center has its own rules for moving heavy equipment across the floor. This one specified plywood as the protective surface for rolling in the racks, so that's what we worked with.

Boards that interlock like a puzzle

Loose panels have a common problem on any surface: under the weight of a rack, they can shift or slide away just as the rack rolls across them. That's a risk for the floor, the equipment and the people moving it.

Our team solved it with custom-cut boards that interlock like a puzzle. Once laid, they stay in place under load, so the rack moves smoothly from one board to the next. The boards protect the floor, stack flat for the next job and adapt to any layout, however tight or winding the route through the data hall.

The right protection for every site

Wood is just one option in our toolkit. Depending on what a data center requires, we also work with fiberglass, steel or plastic floor protection systems. We adapt to the site's rules, not the other way around.

The detail behind every deployment

Protecting the floor is a small part of a rack installation, but it's the kind of detail that decides whether a customer invites you back. It's part of how we work on every nesevo deployment, whether it's 64 racks in Ashburn or a cabling build in Tokyo.
