Our US team recently completed a large-scale move from Virginia to Atlanta. The job covered more than 100 racks and over 3,000 servers, from decommissioning at the original site to upgraded racks ready for their next deployment.
Decommissioning in Virginia
The project started on site in Virginia, where our team decommissioned more than 100 racks. Every rack was shut down, disconnected and prepared for transport according to a clear plan, so nothing was left to chance once the trucks were loaded.
Transport to our Atlanta integration site
The racks then made the journey of around 600 miles (nearly 1,000 km) to our integration site in Atlanta. Bringing them into our own facility, rather than straight to a new data center, gave us the space and control to do the real work properly: rebuilding and preparing the racks before they go back into service.
Racks upgraded for new rollouts
In Atlanta, the racks were transformed and upgraded for upcoming rollouts. Instead of sitting in storage, they are now prepared to go straight into their next deployment, which saves time and money when the customer needs them.
3,000+ servers de-installed and catalogued
Alongside the rack work, our team de-installed and catalogued more than 3,000 servers. Each one is documented, so the customer knows exactly what they have and can decide what happens next: a future move, a new rollout, or resale through our IT asset disposition services.
The right tools for the job
To move this volume of hardware safely, our team used a custom-designed server trolley built for exactly this kind of work. It made on-site movements faster and safer for both the equipment and the people handling it. From servers to cables and switches, every component was handled with care.
One team, start to finish
This project shows what nesevo does best: taking care of every step in-house, from decommissioning and logistics to integration, documentation and resale. No hand-offs, no gaps in responsibility.
