Why overnight?
Our client's systems serve customers around the clock, so a long shutdown was not an option. Instead of one big cutover, we split the migration into five nightly windows. Each night, a defined part of the environment came offline, moved, and was back up and running before business hours started.
Five racks, every night
Each night followed the same routine: our team de-installed, packed, shipped, re-installed and fully cabled five racks with 60 chassis. By the next morning, everything was back in service and ready for the following night's batch. After five nights, the full environment of 25 racks and 300 chassis had been migrated.
A routine that leaves no room for error
Working in short overnight windows means every step has to be planned in advance and every handover has to work. There's no time to improvise. Repeating the same tested process each night kept the risk low and made the migration predictable for everyone involved.
The gear never left our hands
As with every nesevo project, the hardware stayed with our own people from start to finish. The same team that de-installed the equipment also packed it, transported it and installed it again. No subcontractors, no hand-offs and no gaps in responsibility.
