Certus Erasure <\/span>includes numerous overwrite patterns that we can choose from. Although from a technical standpoint, the one-time overwrite is sufficient and 100% secure, we can also offer wiping according to patterns that use multiple overwrite runs, if the customer wishes so (e.g. due to internal company policies). We recommend <\/span>Standard Overwrite <\/span>for HDDs and <\/span>SATA Secure Erase <\/span>for SSDs, though, because these patterns are, while being secure and standards-compliant, the fastest by far, which results in significant energy saving and thus is much more environment-friendly than multi-pass patterns.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the difference between data erasure and disk shredding?<\/h3>\n

Data erasure uses certified software to overwrite all data on a drive so it cannot be recovered \u2014 the drive remains physically intact and can be reused or resold. Disk shredding physically destroys the drive, making data recovery impossible but also ending the hardware's lifecycle. nesevo offers both: software erasure with Certus for drives that pass the process, and on-site physical shredding<\/a> for drives that don't.<\/p>\n

Is software-based data erasure really secure?<\/h3>\n

Yes \u2014 when performed with certified software and to the right standard. nesevo uses Certus Erasure, certified to NIST SP 800-88 Rev.1, the internationally recognised benchmark for secure data sanitisation. A single overwrite pass is technically sufficient and 100% secure. We can also apply multi-pass overwrite patterns if your internal policies require it.<\/p>\n
